Life stretches like a serpentine ribbon, On the road, I find answers And it teaches me more than any wise man. What have I learnt? That in the valley of beauty and serene One does not seek knowledge. Around The scream and dance, crime or execution And the Blackbird’s wing On what yesterday was life. A bridge to cross, a beast to beat. I’m walking down the Road All alone, Worn out the rags of my joy. The step is harder than it was before. And is it far The shelter of my soul?
